Importance of a Healthy Work/Friendship Group

Have you ever heard the saying "you're the average of the 5 people you spend the most time with"? Well, this is 100% true and if those 5 people are influential academically, mentally, physically and with their general attitude and outlook on life, this can be extremely beneficial to living a healthy, happy and successful life.

Motivational speaker Jim Rohn famously said that we are the average of the five people we spend the most time with. This relates to the law of averages, which is the theory that the result of any given situation will be the average of all outcomes.

When it comes to relationships, we are greatly influenced, whether we like it or not, by those closest to us. It affects our way of thinking, our self-esteem, and our decisions. Of course, everyone is their own person, but research has shown that we’re more affected by our environment than we think.

For example, if you spend the most amount of time with people who are maths genius', you will become a greater mathematician, if you spend most time with people who go to the gym a lot, you will also go to the gym a lot and get fitter and stronger. The aim is to surround yourself with am influential group of people who have a healthy balance of work, study, exercise, happiness and kindness. If you can surround yourself with these kinds of people, the benefits are endless and this can lead to a happier, healthier life.
