The Importance of Hobbies for a healthy lifestyle.

When it comes to maintaining a healthy life style both physically and mentally, one of the most important components of remaining stress free and sane is having a hobby. The English dictionary defines the word "hobby" as "an activity done regularly in one's leisure time for pleasure". At any point in your life, especially as a uni student, heavy levels of stress can build up in extremely short periods of time. For example when you're 2 weeks out from your final exam block and realise you're behind on 4 lecture for 4 different subjects and additionally may be having relationship issues or family issues etc. Whilst working on these issues, alongside physical exercise and eating well, a hobby which you love and enjoy must be done to clear the mind, relax and prevent yourself from a mental breakdown. Clearing your mind and allowing yourself to think clearly and stop worrying for even as little as 10 minutes can be the difference between your approach to a situation. It also helps to build character into a more calm, collected, reasonable, relaxed and healthy human being. Hobbies may include sports, games, movies, building, the list goes on. As long as you can enjoy a hobby to maintain a calm mentality.
